@Kenan Sevindik Any code other domain code is useless and should be minimized. Staying in Java does not mean you are safe. You still need to write considerable amount of boilerplate code in Vaadin to generate the ui and has bigger risk of hitting a roadblock. Things you can do easily with HTML can take considerable amount of time in Vaadin. I still prefer frameworks that are close to HTML but that stays close to it like PrimeFaces.

I absolutely agree with you that direct use of html, css, js in not the way to go in developing enterprise ria. We gave a chance to Vaadin in a recent project (having UI requirements not so simple, drag and drops, tree interactions, selections etc.), and the result was very satisfactory. Development process was also very smooth compared to using previously mentioned technologies separately. Compared to GWT and its extensions, I think the biggest advantage of Vaadin is its server side state management, and absence of post compilation phase. I accept that both client and server side state management approaches have their pros and cons, but for many enterprise projects managing ui state on server especially if they are using hibernate, is much more easy way to go.

I use Vaadin as well. In fact I am developing something similar to GWT uibinder to help building the UI layout quicker. More on that to come... The only worry I have now is vaadin's performance and scalability
